From November 2015 to April 2016, I worked in a multi-disciplinary team with an interaction designer, other content designers, user researcher, front end developers and data analysts on the Pension Wise website created by HM Treasury.
We created content for a new set of users following reforms to the age at which people could cash their personal pension pots.
The purpose of the calculators to help people work out how much their pension would be worth with the different options for taking their personal pension.
We tested with users and iterated.

People could use the calculators to make an initial assessment and then go on to book telephone and face-to-face appointments through the website with Pension Wise’s external delivery partners – Citizens Advice and The Pensions Advisory Service.
What users liked about the calculators
The calculators tested well. People liked that they could play around adjust the amounts and different ways of taking their pension pots, to help them to make decisions about when to retire or how much more they needed to add to their pots.
